cuda-bindings 13.5.0 Release notes#
Changes#
Many
cuda.bindings.cudlaandcuda.bindings.nvmlenum members had a redundant prefix stripped from their name, e.g.nvml.BrandType.BRAND_GEFORCEis nownvml.BrandType.GEFORCE. The old, longer names remain available as backward-compatible aliases and will continue to work. The full list of renames, excluding the 447 similarly-renamednvml.GpmMetricIdmembers (which had theirGPM_METRIC_prefix stripped the same way), is below.

Enhancements#
cuda-bindingsdocstrings now include the full documentation from the upstream CTK, not just the first paragraph.For all
cuda-bindingsAPIs, functions that accept abytesobject will also acceptNone, which is treated asNULL.For all
cuda-bindingsAPIs, functions that accept a struct wrapper will accept the struct wrapper directly, rather than requiring getting the.ptrproperty.Creating wrapped structs (AUTO_LOWPP_CLASS) in
cuda-bindingsshould now be faster in most cases, because it requires 1 heap allocation rather than 2.
Bugfixes#
A number of incorrect docstrings have been corrected.
Prerelease feature#
A new version of the nvrtc API is available as cuda.bindings._v2.nvrtc. The
primary improvements are: (1) raising exceptions rather than returning error
codes, (2) uses PEP8-compliant naming, and (3) more performance. This API is
still experimental and subject to change.
Known issues#
Updating from older versions (v12.6.2.post1 and below) via
pip install -U cuda-pythonmight not work. Please do a clean re-installation by uninstallingpip uninstall -y cuda-pythonfollowed by installingpip install cuda-python.nvml.system_get_process_nameon WSL can return incorrect values. To work around this, set the locale to “C” before callingnvml.device_get_compute_running_processes_v3(which sets the process names) and before callingnvml.system_get_process_name.cuda_coredoes this automatically, but users of the raw NVML API will need to do this manually.
